AFS TRYOUT SCHEDULE POLICY

The following policy to fairly schedule competitive soccer tryouts at Anchorage Football Stadium (AFS) was formally adopted by the Anchorage District Soccer Federation at its meeting of February 14, 2005:

By February 1, the District Commissioner sends an inquiry to each club president asking for the club’s preferred date and whether or not they prefer a morning or afternoon start time.

By February 10, the club presidents respond with their preference, citing both a date and am or pm.

By February 15, the district commissioner informs all club presidents of all the clubs' tryout dates and times.

By February 28, each club submits a permit application to MOA Parks and Rec Permitting Division at 120 South Bragaw, applying for their assigned date and time. Each club pays for, and picks up, its own permit.

The club receiving first choice last year moves to last position and each of the other clubs move up one spot from the last year.

Formula used to calculate time allotted to each club: The total number of United Anchorage Youth Soccer League teams from the previous summer is divided by the total hours at AFS for tryouts. Multiply this number by each club’s number of UAYSL registered teams from the previous summer. The answer gives the club’s allocated tryout time. A minimum time of two hours is set for the smallest clubs. This is a guideline. The District Commissioner may adjust schedules as necessary to facilitate efficient use of time and in fairness to all. Clubs may use their scheduled time as they see fit.

In 2007 the order of preference should be: 1st -- Chugiak Soccer Club; 2nd -- Northern Lights Soccer Club; 3rd -- Team Alaska Soccer Club; 4th -- Cook Inlet Soccer Club; 5th -- AK United Futbol Club; 6th -- Full Force Soccer Club; 7th -- Alaska Rush Soccer Club; 8th -- Anchorage Youth Soccer Club.
